Der Bücherei-Neubau ist als zentraler Treffpunkt für die Gemeinde Lensahn konzipiert. Mit seinem klaren und kompakten Baukörper fügt sich der zweigeschossige Neubau selbstverständlich in die Umgebung ein. Form und Farbigkeit nehmen Anleihen am alten Rathaus und der benachbarten Kirche, womit sich das Gebäudevolumen harmonisch in die Umgebung einfügt. Entlang der Sundstraße wird mittels Rücksprung ein kleiner Vorplatz definiert und eine Adressbildung unterstützt. Der große Saal der Bücherei öffnet sich mit einladenden Glasflächen zu diesem Vorplatz, durchzieht das gesamte Gebäude und schließt an den rückwärtigen Kirchgarten an.

The new library building is designed as a central meeting point for the community of Lensahn. With its clear and compact structure, the new two-storey building blends naturally into its surroundings. The shape and color scheme borrow from the old town hall and the neighboring church, allowing the building volume to blend harmoniously into its surroundings. Along Sundstrasse, a small forecourt is defined by means of a setback and supports the creation of an address. The large library hall opens up to this forecourt with inviting glass surfaces, runs through the entire building and connects to the church garden at the rear.
